We now know that the Swedish automaker’s other new, larger EV model will also be cheaper than many of its competitors. Volvo’s new EX30, which starts at less than $40,000, is a surprising affordable electric vehicle. The 2025 Volvo EX90, a three-column extravagance electric SUV, will begin at just $77,990, a somewhat less expensive than different models like the BMW iX (base cost: Rivian R1S (base price: $88,095) and $79,800).
The EX90 setup gets going with the Twin Engine design in and the lower of two trim levels, called In addition to. Air suspension, soft-closing doors, 21-inch wheels, thicker glass, and massaging front seats are all included in the Ultra trim, which starts at $82,340. The Twin Engine arrangement incorporates front and back electric engines that produce 402 strength, and Volvo claims a driving scope of up to 300 miles, however EPA gauges are not accessible yet. All EX90s have a 111.0-kWh battery pack.
Twin Motor Performance is a more powerful configuration with 496 horsepower that costs $500 more and starts at $82,990. The loaded Twin Motor Performance Ultra starts at $87,340 and is also available in Plus and Ultra trims.
Additional options include a $3200 Bowers & Wilkins audio system that is available on Ultra models and second-row captain’s chairs for $500 that reduce the number of seats from seven to six. Additionally, there are a number of wheel options that range from 20 to 22 inches. Overall, the EX90 is available for more than $90,000, which is reasonable considering that many other electric luxury SUVs can cost well over six figures.
According to Volvo, the EX90 will begin production at its South Carolina plant in the first half of 2024, and American customers will begin receiving their vehicles shortly thereafter. A pre-order website is currently open, and reservations can be made with a $500 refundable deposit.
