Though it may sound like the name of an EDM dance club, the new 2024 Ford Mustang GT California Special is distinguished by its use of the color blue. The GT/CS designation is a throwback to the 1968 model, but many Mustang enthusiasts will likely be familiar with it despite the appearance package’s modern touches like the Rave Blue highlights.
A Fresh California Exclusive
Ford has officially unveiled the newest Mustang special edition, following the release of a teaser photo on social media yesterday. Choosing the package adds the air-intake nostrils on the grille and the previously mentioned Rave Blue embellishments on the numerous exterior emblems. It is strictly an aesthetic change. The latter has unique horizontal slats as well as a “GT/CS” insignia. The headlight housings on either side are dark.
Most of the lower body panels of the California Special are covered in decals on the sides. Unique 19-inch wheels are included with every package, and Rave Blue pockets are only available on cars that have the Performance Pack option installed.
The Mustang GT’s interior features metal gray and raptor blue stitching on the doors, dash, and leather seats. The interior is further embellished with perforated Navy Pier upholstery. Those who want to go all out might choose to have the center console and steering wheel contrast stitched. Additionally, a California Special insignia is located on the right side of the dashboard to dazzle guests in the front seats.
Cost of a Mustang GT/CS
The California Special package is limited to the Mustang GT Premium trim level, just like it was with the previous generation. The GT/CS package is priced at $1995, with the coupe costing $47,610 and the convertible $53,110. The 480-hp 5.0-liter V-8 and six-speed manual transmission that come standard with both body designs cost an additional $1595 when opting for the 10-speed automatic transmission. Order banks are now open, according to Ford.
